TRON’s Justin Sun has unveiled plans for a Bitcoin Layer 2 solution aimed at enhancing interoperability across blockchains, while simultaneously improving speed and security.
The ambitious roadmap for TRON’s Bitcoin Layer 2 initiative, as disclosed by Sun, aims to inject funds into the BTC network, enhancing scalability and security in the process. Additionally, TRON intends to integrate tokens from its network with the Bitcoin blockchain, ensuring seamless interaction and interoperability between TRON and Bitcoin.
Outlined in three phases, Sun’s announcement on Thursday emphasized TRON’s commitment to advancing the interoperability and utility of blockchain technologies. The integration of TRON and Bitcoin will unlock access to TRON’s $55 billion stablecoin market, injecting financial vitality into Bitcoin.
The initial phase focuses on integrating various tokens from the TRON network with the Bitcoin blockchain through cross-chain technology, facilitating smooth interactions between the two ecosystems. Notably, TRON plans strategic collaborations with multiple Bitcoin Layer 2 protocols in the second phase to foster ecosystem growth and enable TRON users to participate in staking programs.
The final stage aims to develop a Bitcoin Layer 2 solution integrating TRON, BTTC, and BTC, introducing a Bitcoin-compatible protocol combining low fees and fast transactions characteristic of Proof-of-Stake systems, along with the security of Proof-of-Work and unspent transaction output models. TRON seeks to enhance the performance and scalability of the Bitcoin network while ensuring robust security.
Furthermore, TRON’s DAO is investing in the development of a wallet and tools compatible with BRC-20 tokens, supporting Ordinals and Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions. The resurgence of Ordinals, although bringing DeFi and NFTs to Bitcoin, has faced criticism due to increased transaction fees and network congestion. Some Bitcoin community members have labeled Ordinals as a scam, prompting initiatives like Rijndael’s script to reject blocks with inscriptions.
