The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is preparing in the coming weeks make several important decisions that could significantly affect the cryptocurrency market. The SEC has until October 13 to appeal the decision in the Grayscale case. Investors are watching closely this period as it may also have an impact on the SEC’s stance on spot ETFs.
The SEC also faces deadlines for two other important decisions. The first of them is the answer to Bitwise Bitcoin ETP Trust, which must be submitted by October 16th.
The second is a response to Nasdaq’s request to list the iShares Bitcoin Fund by October 17. The SEC could technically respond any time before those dates, but historically decisions are often made they bring just a few days before the deadline.
However, SEC Chairman Gary Gensler will testify before the Financial Services Committee of the House of Representatives on Wednesday. Plus, next week’s party to celebrate Ripple’s win over the SEC will also take place on Friday.
As recently as this week, it was revealed that the trustee overseeing the bankruptcy of "Mt Gox" decided postpone payments to creditors for another year. New payment date, originally set as October 31, 2023, has now been transferred to October 31, 2024.
