RONALDO LAUNCHES 4TH NFT COLLECTION WITH BINANCE AMID $1B LAWSUIT

Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has announced the release of his fourth non-fungible token (NFT) collection in collaboration with Binance. This new collection is set to launch on May 29 on the Binance NFT Marketplace and will celebrate Ronaldo’s illustrious career, featuring highlights from his journey in football.

According to a Binance blog post, Ronaldo stated, “My football journey has seen me travel around the world, and I’ve been honored to play for some of the most prestigious clubs out there. Now it’s your turn to join me on that journey too.”

Details on the number of NFTs in the new collection will be revealed at launch, and the pricing strategy will see all “Normal NFTs” priced equally, while the “final Super Rare NFT” will have a different price point.

Previous NFT collections featuring Ronaldo have offered exclusive perks, including opportunities for holders to play football with him as part of Binance’s promotions.

However, as reported by Cointelegraph in November 2023, Ronaldo was sued in a class action lawsuit in a Florida district court. The lawsuit alleges that Ronaldo “promoted, assisted in, and/or actively participated in the offer and sale of unregistered securities in coordination with Binance,” suggesting he should have been aware of Binance’s activities.

This legal action against Ronaldo is connected to Binance’s broader legal troubles. Binance’s founder, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, was found guilty in the U.S. of enabling fraud and was sentenced in April 2024 to serve four months in detention for his role in an alleged money laundering scheme.
