WORLDCOIN LAUNCHES ‘HUMANNESS’ VERIFICATION IN SINGAPORE

Worldcoin has recently expanded its services to Singapore, allowing residents to verify their unique identities using its World ID technology. This development comes after Worldcoin scaled back its operations in India, and follows the release of World ID 2.0 and the open-sourcing of its iris recognition pipeline.

Worldcoin’s Growth and Global Reach

The World App, the first wallet compatible with World ID, has witnessed substantial growth, boasting 1.7 million monthly active users and over 30 million transactions on the platform. Worldcoin’s expansion efforts include partnerships and affiliations with prominent organizations in Singapore, such as ACCESS and the Singapore Fintech Association (SFA). These moves follow a recent tour across Asia by the Tools for Humanity (TFH) product development team.

Utilizing Orb Devices for Identity Verification

Co-created by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Worldcoin uses Orb devices to scan individuals’ irises, confirming their humanness and rewarding them with WLD tokens for signing up. World ID verifications have been steadily expanding, with locations now available in 11 countries.

Growing Presence in Various Countries

World ID verifications are gaining traction in several cities across Spain, including Sevilla and Bilbao, joining other locations like Malaga, Mallorca, and Madrid. In Germany, Cologne and Leipzig have recently been added to existing Orb locations in Berlin and Nuremberg.

In South America, Chile has expanded access to World ID verifications in cities like Concepcion, Curico, Viña del Mar, and Santiago. Argentina has set a national record with over 10,000 verifications daily. In Japan, Fukuoka and Tokyo are among the cities where World ID verifications are now conducted.

Worldcoin’s Position in the Wallet Market

TFH reports that more than five million accounts have been created on Worldcoin, ranking it as the fifth most used hot wallet globally in 2023, alongside the Bitcoin.com wallet.

Scaling Back in India, Brazil, and France

Despite its expansion, Worldcoin has paused operations in India and discontinued registration services in Brazil and France. The company plans a more significant rollout in these countries in 2024 and is working on a customized registration process in India due to high demand. These adjustments reflect Worldcoin’s strategic approach to expanding its global footprint while adapting to regional requirements and demands.
